TEDxParramatta identifies voices from across Western Sydney and shares them with the world. As an independently organised event, TEDxParramatta draws on the global success of the TEDx platform and fills the global archive with local movers and shakers.
Our mantra, shaping tomorrow together acknowledges that we need every grain of the business and community sectors, as well as Government to create the world we want to live in. It takes local heroes with their sleeves rolled up through to policy makers and everyone in between.
To date, we’ve provided a platform for 16 people to share their ideas and be documented in the global TEDxIdeas archive. TEDx has featured one speaker on their podcast.
Our relationship to TED
TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
TED is a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world. TED believes passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world.
Evolving out of the success of TED, the TEDx initiative was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” TEDx supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently, under a free license granted by TED.
